What's on your Journey?

As I sit and contemplate on the idea of being on a journey to better health and wellness, I always seem to veer back to the days that prompted me to begin in the first place. While in my college days I had little, if any, notion that I was living in complete disarray. My mind was the furthest thing away from living a life of wellness!

In my case I was knowledgeable of my family's history of high cholesterol, obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. All of these are some of the top dis-eases that plague the African American community. Even with the knowing I didn't do anything to be preventative. Taking for granted that I wouldn't become the next victim of these dis-eases walked me right into that trap. At the age of 27 I was diagnosed with high cholesterol and hypertension. Even with that being a reality I made moderate changes but nothing that would constitute a lifestyle overhaul.

Between being a student at Life University and landing in the lap of Team BeachBody , my eyes were opened to the world of health and fitness! While at Life University I began to learn what it was to walk in that lifestyle. Pretty much everyone on the campus lived by some kind of wellness regiment. Every aspect from veganism and vegetarianism to.professional natural bodybuilders existed. This influenced my thinking on holistic health a lot!

The hook for me getting into thr health and wellness industry came in the form of Team BeachBody. My first experience with BeachBody came through P90X. I lost a good bit of weight and even toned up some. After that I decided to become a Team BeachBody Coach because it provided me a lane to motivate people to get up and get to moving!

To make a long story short, this is the journey that allowed the vision of Life Flow Wellness to have life! If you are ready to begin a journey start with letting Life Flow Wellness become partner! You can begin by clicking on the Holistic Community link at the top of the page and creating a free account. By letting me become your Coach you are open to a motivating community that will walk with you on your journey!!!

Discipline: The Key to Real Change

Discipline is often described as training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character or control gained by enforcing obedience or order.  A number of people miss this concept when aiming to make changes in their lives. The concept of discipline is often mistaken as a word used to infuse punishment when on contrary it is the complete opposite! In fact the concept of discipline comes from a concept of wanting to have boundaries on areas that will keep you focused on your goals. Discipline is the direct result of focus and it prints the road map to get you to your goals!

So if you are gauged on setting some life changing habits, start with the concept of the theme of  DISCIPLINE!!! Making changes in workouts, nutrition, or lifestyle will point you to focus and discipline!!!

P90X , Have You Tried It?

Today's workout that we are featuring is one that is near and dear to me because it was the one that led me to become a Team BeachBody Coach. It is the one and only P90X! This workout is the best selling and most famous of the BeachBody workouts. P90X was developed as the follow up to Tony Horton's P90 series. The workout was designed to help you achieve maximum results in 90 days.

P90X is broken down into 12 different intense workouts. They use elements of cardio, resistance training, body weight training, yoga, ab work, and martial arts. There is also a nutrition plan included in P90X. The workouts get intense but they are not impossible. P90X is kind of equipment heavy unless you modify and use the resistance features. Even modification still provides great results!

CrossFit Phenomenon

Hello health and Wellness world! This week here at Life Flow Wellness we will be focusing on some different workout regiments. The first one we will be diving into is CrossFit. CrossFit was developed by a guy named Coach Greg Glassman. The regiment was developed over a period of decades. If you want to sum up what CrossFit is it can be described as "constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity" according to CrossFit.com. Some examples of CrossFit exercises are: kettle bell swings, clean and jerk, and ( probably the most popular) burpees. To learn more about CrossFit check out CrossFit.com.

Where Are You Now?

It seems most of us came into the New Year focused and ready to make those changes that will get us to the next level. Some us made commitments to saving money, some committed to getting in shape and living healthier, and others wanted to give up various things.

Well we are almost two complete months into the New Year and my question is "where are you now?" The fact is a lot of people get discouraged around this time of year and they give up on their goals. At this rate a lot of gyms become empty, income tax money is blown, and people go back to their old ways that they say they left in last year!

Here is a thought, "those goals that you have abandoned, they are still yours!" That's right, you own the rights to them. When you commit to something, in any form of fashion, you, by default, sign a mental contract. Once it is a done deal you owe it to yourself to see that obligations arr fulfilled. There are some things that were thought of that only you could accomplish for yourself. No one else can get shape for you or save your money for you! These are things, once accomplished, will give you a sense of ownership like nothing else!

So if you have fallen off of the wagon get back up! It's not too late to put those plans into action and make those changes you need to make for yourself!
